Born in San Sebastian (Guipuzcoa) in 1969, he studied Harmony at the Conservatoire in his native city, receiving honours. At the same time, he studied Organ at the National Conservatoire of the Region of Bayonne and in classes with Peio Cabalette he studied Theory, Analytical Studies and Orchestration, obtaining two gold medals.
Later on he was accepted into Loic Mallie’s Theory classes at the National Advanced Conservatoire of Music of Lyon where he completed courses in Theory, Analytical Studies, Orchestration, Ancient Counterpoint and Cinema Music, receiving the First Prize with Unanimous Distinction from the Jury. Finally, he furthered his studies in composition with the composer, Edith Canat de Chizy, in the “Erik Satie” Conservatoire in Paris.
He has been commissioned by various institutions: The Quincena Musical of San Sebastian, The National Orchestra of Lyon, The Cultural Association Pagoarte and he has been awarded prizes in various composition competitions. Amongst the awards the following are particularly noteworthy: First prize ex-aequo from the third European Competition for Organ Composition Rocco Rodio (Italy 2004), the Cristobal Halffter Prize (2008) and special prize for organ from the first Competition of Composition of Sacred Music of the Cathedral of Monaco. .He has been professor at Musikene and was assistant organist of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Coro of San Sebastian since 1989, being named resident organist in 2009.
